Postcards From the Inside Out -- Travel Poetry
Poetry written by Paige, the founder of Expat Education. She has written many, many poems throughout her travels and put together 17 poems with reflections on her experiences around the world.
During her travels in her twenties, she found herself both chasing something & shedding something. She was learning to live outside of the filters-- social, cultural, digital-- and to see the world, and herself, more clearly. But she was also realizing that filters aren’t always lies. Sometimes, they’re tools. They let us imagine something more. Stay {globally} curious and keep learning!
There are three parts:
The Real World
The Filter World
The Inner World
As with other content and resources with Expat Education, this poetry is applicable K-8. It just depends on how deep or reflective you want to be! Think of this as an inside look to small, personal moments— whether that be on a hike in Peru or in a layover in Hawaii.
Teachers and parents can use these poems as examples for “Point of View.” Whether that be understanding different perspectives of characters in books, finding a relatable point of view for poetry and expression, searching for connection including geography & growth, or focusing on reflections, lessons, and themes, this will be very helpful to start the conversations. > 49 pages of travel heart and soul. We hope you enjoy!
